Local staff Anaesthetist charged with administering a noxious substance and assault causing previous bodily harm
A respected staff Anaesthetist has been charged with administering noxious substance after woman was taken to hospital in what police described as the an unresponsive and serious condition.
Humberside Police confirmed that Hossam Metwally, 58, will appear in court, charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm and administering a noxious substance.
Dr. Metwally is a Staff Anaesthetist and Chronic Pain Specialist in North East Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust and a director of Lincs Pain Clinic on Laceby Road.
A number of officers attended a property on Laceby Road in Grimsby on Saturday after the woman was taken to hospital on Friday.
Police were alerted by hospital staff, who were concerned for the safety of the woman. She was described as being in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Police are still at the clinic this afternoon.
