It happened around 2.15 this morning
One of the main routes into Grimsby town centre is closed this morning following a serious crash overnight.
Cromwell Road and Dudley Street are closed up to Deansgate Bridge.
The collision, between a silver Ford Focus and a Suzuki SX4, has happened at the junction with Littlefield Lane.
Is is understood two people in the Focus fled the scene and Humberside Police are concerned for their welfare.
Emergency services were at the scene making the vehicles safe with fuel spilled all over the road.
Crime Scene Investigators are at the scene and are inspecting the Ford Focus. Police have yet to issue a statement but it is believed the driver of the Ford is in hospital.
Officers at the cordon have been explaining to pedestrians and cyclists why they cannot go through the scene for fear of disrupting the laser scanners taking images of the scene for crash investigators.
Stagecoach buses were being diverted around the scene. Services 4, 5 and 6 are using Lord Street and Boulevard Avenue in both directions until the scene is clear.
A nearby resident said they had looked out their window and see a car being followed by police and then heard a loud bang, a distance away from their house.
