Man appears at Court accused of washing blood stained body of murder victim

Craig Whittle 45 appeared at Grimsby Magistrates yesterday Friday 12 July
A man has appeared in court charged with ‘washing the body’ of a murder victim after he was killed in Cleethorpes.

Craig White is alleged to have cleaned the blood-stained body of Shaun Lyall after he died in a very brutal attack at a house in Sidney Street.

He is also said to have then disposed of ‘bloodstained footwear’ from the scene

A post mortem examination revealed he died from multiple injuries inflicted using a number of blunt and sharp weapons at the terraced home where Shaun had lived for a number of years.

Detectives continue to hunt for prime suspect Abdi Ali, 29, who has been on the run since the incident.
Whittle, 45, of Corporation Road, appeared before Grimsby magistrates on Friday charged with intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of Mr Lyall’s murder.
The charge says that Whittle ‘engaged in the process of washing the body of Shaun Lyall and disposed of blood stained footwear, which was capable of encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable only offence, namely the murder of Shaun Lyall’, between July 15 and 18 last year.
No pleas were entered at the hearing and Whittle was remanded to appear back at court on Monday 12th August 2019
