A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in the carpark of a Grimsby supermarket on Friday night. (June 1)

Andrew Mayes, 36, of no fixed abode, is also charged with possession of a knife in a public place.

He is remanded to appear before Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates Court on Monday, June 4.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicki Miller said: “I would like to thank everyone who came forward with information about the incident.

“Your help has been instrumental in helping us to establish the circumstances of what happened that night.
